<hi style=afpcap>After several designs which had featured a mix of wood and metal, the O-19 was the first all-metal biplane produced by Thomas-Morse. The Army ordered 180 O-19s between 1928 and 1931 with various designations denoting different engine fitments and design changes. Whereas most were obtained for armed observation duties , the O-19C was fitted out with a plush interior for the transportation of V.I.P.s.</hi>
